They have arrived safe and sound, thanks to excellent packing by the seller. An extra one included as well, so a baker's dozen. Sounds better than 13, especially as I will need all the luck I can get. A mixture of Double Breasted Bronze and Commerical Whites.
They are now 'resting' for 24 hours, the incubator is running. Tomorrow I shall set them and hope for at least some turkey poults in 28 days time !

Oooh - good luck. I have heard rearing turkeys from eggs is quite hard - which is why I am off to the market tomorrow to buy some young 'uns. If they are too small though I'll leave it another couple of weeks.

Thanks. My hatching success with the incubator isn't good and I think the first few days rearing poults is difficult, after that they just try to find as many different ways to die...bit like sheep. Saying that we reared 4 poults from 7 weeks of age last year and they were brilliant.

Got three rather scaggy looking turkey poults off the market today + 3 POL chickens. Blog and photos to follow in due course but I've been rushed off my feet today.

How old are the poults? Looking forward to the photos. I have just set the eggs.Fingers crossed...a whole month to wait !
Not sure how old they are - somewhere between 5 and 8 weeks but the man on the market had a very strong accent so was hard to understand when I asked him. There were some others on the next stall that were much smaller so I'm guessing mine are nearer 8 weeks.
