Another weather update

Yesterday's forecast for heavy snow was today down graded to wet snow, sleet and rain in coastal areas, with heavy snow only falling on the higher ground. At midday it duly arrived, first the wet snow, then the sleet, now just heavy bitterly cold rain. The house is full of dripping hats, scarves, gloves, boots and coats all of which will hopefully be dry by the morning.

Just two miles away it is a completely different story with roads becoming impassable. Further east of the county Haldon Hill is once again closed with many vehicles stranded.

I'm not sure which I prefer, the freezing temperatures and all that it brings, of the past few weeks or the biting wind and driving rain causing misery and mud.

In a few short months we will be complaining of the lack of rain and shortage of grass.

We got the heavy snow last night which the wind blew into drifts. Now it is raining. No snow is forecast but with night temperatures hovering around freezing, conditions could become even more lethal than they are at the moment. Which is why I am planning a day inside cooking - with regular trips to the gite to give Simon much needed hot drinks and encouragement.

Eight inches of snow here in Cwmcarn(and more on the mountain).
It is still doing the occasional shower of soft large flakes, but I am concerned about the freezing rain on the way from West Wales

I have just been watching the news. I feel as I though I am living in another country here...( well I am as far as you two are concerned :) ) Today the skies are blue, the sun is shining and the temperature at present is 9.1 C !! This morning I spent a lovely wasteful 20 mins or so without a coat etc watching the hens enjoying the green grass, unfrozen ground and the warmth of the sun whilst the rest of the country is still under a blanket of snow !!
