Chicken shuffle
This weekend we finally got around to re jigging the hens. The 3 good Welsummer hens, the Ixworth and the Australorp have been moved to the yard. The Welsummers will soon be joined by a Gold Duckwing Welsummer cockerel and will be used for breeding.
The Ixworth and Australorp joined the 2 Speckled Sussex hens and at some stage will probably be mated with the Indian Game cockerel.
The two Light Sussex hens and the Light Brahama have been brought back home to join the layers and hopefully later in the season will become broody.
The other three Welsummer hens and the Welsummer cockerel are in the garage plucked and waiting to be drawn, as soon as they have cooled a little.
