I think so, my sons, so his responsibility. They only need checking once a week at this time of the year, less at other times.We have had a few problems with the queens so not as straight forward as it should/could be. I'm only just learning..would like a hive of my own :)

what happens to the wax?
The empty frames will be put back into the hive, the bees will clean, repair and re use them.
The cappings will go on top of the crown board, the bees will take the remaining honey from it and the clean wax will be used for candles.
I'd love to have bees but I just do not have the time at the moment for more animals :-( . Are they easy to keep?

my dad keeps bees - so kinda easier to smile at him and accept gift honey!

I find the whole' bee thing' fascinating I am going to start reading up on top bar hives as a different way of keeping them.

I have been looking at beeing keeping courses with a friend but it is finding the time at this time of year
They are my sons I am still learning but one day hope to have my own. :) as you say there is always seems so much else to do.
